 Dear Marvel,

Thank you for owning Iron Man. And thank you for turning the comics into movies.  Even though Iron Man 2 was crap compared to the first movie, Tony Stark is fucking ace and exactly my type of hero. The fact that he's completely made of sex doesn't hurt, of course. His lines are like gold, except I can't sell them.

Love,

 -A

You guys, I can't live without my anti-heroes. This is plainly obvious. Batman, Cade Skywalker, Iron Man, the Winchester boys. I just can't stay away from them.

...and this random tidbit has been brought to you by the number thirteen and the letter R.

Iron Man is awesome.

And anti-heroes make the world go around. Or the galaxy spin.

I really need to go comic book hunting now. Srsly. The original source is (usually!) 1223904390% better than the movies SO I AM THINKING THIS WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA!!

And anti-heroes make the world go around. Or the galaxy spin.

THIS THIS THIS!!! -squishes her anti-heroes- This is what I want more of!!

Ahahaha. It's not a problem. =B

Have fun with the comics! I should check out more about Cade Skywalker.

I like anti-heroes because I like taking a villian and showing where the villian might acutually have a good point. Or, if the villian is so rotten and bad, they deserve the meanest fate done to them by someone who isn't squimish about getting nasty. I could be wrong, but from what I've learned about Darth Krayt, he seems kind of pathetic in a way, and a waste of a hot jedi master that he was. IDK, I need to actually read the story.

Hey that little car thing you have in front of user names instead of the lj head thingy, how do you do that? I've been doing a lot of work on my journal changing its look into something I like, learning a little bit of the web design. (I'm so seriously going to learn web design)

They're ending the Legacy comics soon, which is the verse Cade's part of. :( The last comic comes out in July. DO NOT WANT THE ENDING!!!!! =(

I just like them because, even though they keep saying they're not the right person for the job, even though they seem too bad to be good, they end up making the right choices in the moments where it matters the most

If you go to this link
(http://bittersweet-art.livejournal.com/403556.html?page=3) and if you scroll to the very bottom, there's the CSS to have them show up. Just sub the links for the mini!icons you want. =B Hopefully that helped!

Thanks for the css info! Check out my journal, it's totally opposite yours, all black with these big letters in white (I'm kind of farsighted) I worked all night on it, trying to get the right effect with the features I want.

Yeah, I hate it when a good series ends. I know what you're saying, the rough guy ends up doing the right thing even though he feels like killing everyone bothering him XD

Love the icon!

Not a problem! Hopefully you end up getting what you want with your journal! =D I just use pre-made layouts. Though...I don't really like the pink on this one. I've gotten used to it though, and I like the simplicity! =D

I'm hoping someone will continue it. Or...I could justwrite more fanfic for it. Except there doesn't seem to be a lot of people out there who are Legacy fans online. :(

Thanks. =D

My journal's mostly what I want it to be, thanks =D, still working on details.

I would go ahead and write the fics, you never know. I've been posting mine in my journal, and I don't know how many people would be interested in it. It's mostly about Revan and Malak, and some (sensible) OCs I've made to fit into the Knights of the Old Republic theme. To me it's more important to have a few people who really get into it, rather than a bunch of people who are snarky. IDK, I'm pretty new at this.

Date: 9/6/10 05:38 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] openmoments.livejournal.com
That's good!

Oh no. I definitely agree. And as soon as I get my hands on some more Knights of the Old Republic comics I'll be checking out your fics. I'm just not as in tune with the verse as I'd like and want to know what's going on before checking out fics.

And I'm still planning on writing them, but I do want to try and find out what kind of fan base there is. BEcause there's got to be SOME people out there who like it as much as I do! It wouldn't be so popular if there weren't!

Date: 9/6/10 06:05 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] darth-eldritch.livejournal.com
I'm sure there's people out there who will be into Cade as more people discover him and Krayt. Star Wars is just so popular that it will never die.

I'm not really following the KotOR comics that came out recently. I wrote most of my stuff after playing the xbox game made by Bioware,, and from the old comics by Darkhorse about Exar Kun and Nomi Sunrider, which was long before those new comics. The new comics are retcon to me, as I'm following the spirit of KotOR 1. I have a whole bunch of fic that I am slowly fixing up and putting on my journal. It's essentially AU because I am mostly writing about the Dark Side Revan, who is not canon. And my light side version will be a bit more canon compliant. A little bit more.

Date: 9/6/10 10:09 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] openmoments.livejournal.com
Apparently all I have to do is google it. There were a few places that I found. I'll look into it more as school finishes. I agree. Fandoms may come and go (though a lot of really good staying power) and Star Wars is one that's definitely stood the test of time.

Really? I've been dropping the ball on KotOR because I've been trying to catch/keep up with Legacy, but as soon as it's over, that's what I'm turning my attention to. That and Invasion, which is amazing as well. I don't play video games, so that would be why. And AU fics are always fun. Well, the well written ones certainly are. :D

Date: 9/6/10 11:42 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] darth-eldritch.livejournal.com
I'm finding fandoms that are for old stuff and for things that I never thought there would be fanfic for. People really do get into a lot of things, no matter how old it is.

The KotOR story is pretty easy to pick up from online sources. I mean, it's a video game, after all, and doesn't have an elaborate plot, just a good story line.
I've got a masterlist link set up on top of my journal under a year 2020 entry, which is where I will link all of my fanfic. I only have a couple of chapters there right now, because I'm making sure they are decent enough before posting. Hell, I have this old Darth Maul fic that is a complete novel that I might add for shits and grins. It's a bit mary sueish, but it was written before I had internet, only what a friend told me about fanfic. I wrote it by the standards that professional writers set for character development, having weaknesses, challenges, believability, so my femele OC shouldn't be annoying like a lot of them tend to be.

I'll be happy to read your Cade stories, you've made him seem very interesting, so I am looking forward to them :)

Good luck with school!

This is true. That's what keeps fandoms alive, in my opinion.

I'll definitely have to check that out sometime! And here's the link to the Cade story: http://onyxexistance.livejournal.com/106027.html#cutid1

Let me know what you think. :)

I like! It was artfully done to show the more vulnerable side of the tough guy without him becoming embarassingly gooey with emotion.

Cade smokes deathsticks in canon?

Date: 10/6/10 04:04 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] openmoments.livejournal.com
Thank you! I hate it when people turn their bad guys into woobies to show weakness. Bad authors! That's honestly one of my greatest fears while writing; that I'll end up turning an amazing character into something pathetic.

Cade is a serious druggie in canon. He fights it for a good portion of the comic series. It was actually brought back up in a recent issue.

Date: 10/6/10 04:26 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] darth-eldritch.livejournal.com
:) It was well done, how you had it from the Twi'lek woman's POV and it creates sympathy for him.

I find that interesting about Cade and addiction problems because it's like they would never show that in Star Wars, especially the death stick thing. I have a couple of OCs who smoke cigarras, one occasionally, and the other fairly often, and I felt that challenges the SW theme of no smoking.

Date: 10/6/10 04:57 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] openmoments.livejournal.com
Well, Cade has no qualms about who he sleeps with. =P

I thought death sticks were introduced in A New Hope, when they're in the Mos Eisley Cantina. Or maybe that wasn't until Attack of the Clones. Either way, it was with Obi-Wan. And Jedi don't deal with things that will become addicting. Though, once Cade's dad dies and he becomes a space pirate, he doesn't exactly embrace the ways of the Jedi. In issue #46 he says that he's neither Sith nor Jedi: he hates he Sith, but he's not good enough for the Jedi. One of my favourite moments. Ever.

Date: 10/6/10 05:22 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] darth-eldritch.livejournal.com
A guy who isn't picky is fun :D

They had a hookah in the Mos Eisley cantina, and Jabba the Hutt smokes something like it, and there is a thing called a "shisha" that Watto smokes. The death stick was introduced in AOTC. (What would Cade say if Obi Wan tried that mind trick line on him- You need to go home and rethink your life?) Cigarra come from Mathew Stover's Shatterpoint where he introduces the planet that produces the thyssel bark that is popular as a tobacco like product.

"I hate the Sith, but I'm not good enough for the Jedi," Hah! Good one!

Date: 11/6/10 06:34 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] openmoments.livejournal.com
There's so many more things he's going to be able to do, canonically!

Riiight. I knew there was something in the OT that was smoking related. And in the club scene in AotC, there's well...a club scene so all the smoking/drugs/gambling/etc. Well, when Cade sees Luke's ghost in any of the comics he tells him to gtfo and leave him alone. And that's his great-great-grandpa (or something to that effect) so I'm pretty damn sure he'd be telling Obi-Wan the same thing. Except with no family ties that would even think of holding him back.

Shatterpoint was an AMAZING book. I wasn't a huge Windu fan but *g* THAT BOOK!!!

Seriously. Cade is my favourite Star Wars character, hands down. Actually, he'd have to fight PM Padme because she's badass as all hell too...hmmm...crack!fic ideas are cracky. =B

Date: 12/6/10 05:15 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] darth-eldritch.livejournal.com
It's some guy with a pushed up nose smoking a hookah in the cantina. I think (I may be wrong) the Tonnika twins were smoking, too, or it was someone by them, the same guy, maybe.

I LOVE IT! Telling off Luke's ghost. I was so cracking up when I read that, because I was so betting that Cade just HATES the idea of being a descendent of the great Luke Skywalker by the way you describe him. So I will have read the blasted comics XD!

Shatterpoint is awesome. So is Traitor, and I haven't really been into any of the post ROTJ eu other than the early stuff by Kevin J Anderson and others.

A Cade/Padme fight, okay, way cracky and out to be hilarious XD Of course Padme would have the ultimate (x great) grandma weapon. As if Cade would care. :)

Date: 13/6/10 11:32 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] openmoments.livejournal.com
Riiiiiight! I remember that now.

Ahaha. You have NO IDEA! He thinks it's BS and at one point asks Luke's ghost what the point of saving the galaxy is because the Skywalker family has done it so many times, and then the galaxy goes and turns around on them. He's fucking brilliant. YES YOU DO!

I read what I can get my hands on. I go through points where all I want to read is Star Wars books or Agatha Christie books or Sherlock Holmes mysteries. Trufax are true. -nods-

That crack!fic needs to happen. As does Han/Padme. Yes, I do have a crack!ship in my crack!closet. =B

Date: 14/6/10 05:31 am (UTC)

"But I don't wanna save the galaxy! It stinks!"

Oo Sherlock Holmes.

Ahahaha. Cade is pretty much made of win.

Sherlock Holmes is my homeboi. -nods-

Ahahhaha. She'd take him down a few pegs, that's for sure.

Cade is definitely fiiiiiine. Jan does an amazing job drawing him. Let me know if/when you get your hands on the comics!

Oooh! Do it! Even though it doesn't fit the books well on Holmes's personality, with all the fighting he does, it stays true to his relationship with Watson, the way he solves crimes, etc. Brilliantly done.

Date: 15/6/10 01:23 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] darth-eldritch.livejournal.com
Might be a while before I get anything, tight budget here :(

Han/Padme: "Why, yes, your worshipfullness." "We can discuss your differences or we can save the galaxy." Leia snarks, but Padme is rather blunt and straight forward. She's set Ani straight a couple of times!

Jan is a great artist. I love her Darth Maul. And her Jedi Master A'sharad Hett (hot!)

Yeah, I can see why someone would come up with one of those dreaful Mary Sues just to boff someone like Cade (and, yuck, rescue him....)

Have to find Holmes DVD, have to... yeah, with him tied up in bed, can't wait to see the reason behind that!

I know what you mean. Check out tfaw.com. Most of their stuff is at least 10%-20% off. Which might not seem like a lot, but in the long run, it's a couple of dollars here and there. =D

Ahahaha. THIS IS SO TRUE! Like mother like daughter and all that, isn't it? =D

Guuuh. Mary Sues. I remember when I just got into writing, you know, when you're ten or so? And want to have people like your characters? Oh the warrior Mary Sues I created. -shakes head- Makes me giggle, to say the least. =B Pffft. The only females who have what it takes to rescue Cade are 'theloveofhislife' Deliah Blue and his mother, Corde. Otherwise, the girls are just in it for the sex. -nods-

It was amazing. I've watched it twice on the internet. There's a couple of places you can find it to stream. Though, once the price comes down, I'm definitely getting my own copy. =D

Thanks for the info!

I wrote mary sues to end all mary sues when I was a kid. I still make mary sues, but ones that are within good character development according to books on writing that I have studied. None of them overwhelm the story or the other crap we see. I just like a strong kick ass female characters. As for the purple eyes, that skeeved me. I had purple eyes in my original fic characters and rpg characters long before the little suethors did.

I'll look for Sherlock on the net, then.:)

No problem! They'll send you info and stuff if you ask them to and whatnot. Amazing site, overall! =D

I don't get why eye colours are such a big deal. Then again, I'm lenient. There are a shit load of ficcers who are obsessed with perfection. [livejournal.com profile] fanficrants is full of them. Some days I just...I don't get it. They are WAAAAAY too full of themselves most of the time, in my opinion. -shrugs-

Try megastic.com or surfthechannel.com. That's where I've found almost any movie I want to watch! And always in good quality..well, most of the time! Good luck finding something!

Date: 15/6/10 05:31 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] darth-eldritch.livejournal.com
I think it's because the suethors use purple so much and other unusual colors it's become trademark to sue haters who have this precise list of what constitutes a mary sue. Which irritates me because I don't want some of my old characters to be taken as a Sue because of eye and hair color. I hate some of the mary sues myself, but I read them only to laugh at them, otherwise I don't read it.

I dropped a lot of those rant comms because of the drama. Some major ongoing drama with a friend of a friend on fanficrants which we felt was unfair and we just decided it wasn't worth following. I found [livejournal.com profile] oc_analysis which is purely concrit and no drama.

Thanks again for the info! :D
